A few words about us

Special Ministries Disability and Family Services has been serving the Southern California disabled population since 1973.

Our desire as an organization is to provide quality therapeutic, recreational, employment empowerment, and socialization, programs for Southern California’s children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities.

Our purpose is to encourage growth, expand horizons, and enrich life.

We serve over 250 clients at our camps throughout the year.  We offer both overnight and day camps for all ages.  Each camp is filled with fun activities that provide a lifetime of memories. Our camp schedule includes week long overnight camps in both the winter & Summer and day camps during the month of August.
The Bridge Saturday Program runs  biweekly and specifically designed for the social development and community integration of persons with disabilities.  We engage in both onsite activities such as sports, crafts, computer time, and cooking; as well as offsite activities in which we go out into the community and participate in trips to musicals, zoos, and museums.

We also serve over 200 clients a year by providing monthly day trips.  These are excursions to different Southern California attractions and give parents and/or caregivers a well-deserved day off.

There is also a weekly Sunday school class for adults with developmental disabilities, which meets Sundays during the 10:45am service at Hope Chapel Hermosa.  Children with disabilities are welcome at any church service in our children's church program.
